Qualifications

Candidates should be dual-boarded or board eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology, or in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine with one year of advanced training in Cardiac Critical Care, or in Pediatric Cardiology with an additional year in CVICU/CICU.


Responsibilities

Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills, the ability to collaborate across hospital and academic departments, success in promoting scholarship and funding, and the ability to mentor junior faculty.

1. Clinical Responsibilities: Provide clinical care in the CVICU and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, Participate in developing and implementing care protocols, Actively engage in the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program (encouraged).

2. Educational Responsibilities: Supervise, instruct, and mentor pediatric residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers.

3. Research: Participate in clinical research initiatives and help develop research programs.

4. Quality Improvement: Strong encouragement to initiate or join ongoing QI projects.


Future Directions for the Congenital Heart Program (Depending on Candidate Interest)

Candidates may choose to actively support and develop:

1. A step-down/intermediate care unit.

2. Advanced heart failure services.

3. Pediatric pulmonary hypertension programs.

4. A VAD and heart transplant program.

5. Neurodevelopmental programs for patients with congenital cardiac disease.
